White Bresse

The Bresse chickens originated in France and are known for their very tasty meat. The French Bresse are raised with added corn and dairy in their diets. Here, they are called Canadian Bresse, and in addition to their tastiness, Bresse are a friendly and curious breed. They love to see everything that you are doing and are not in the least bit flightly. They are an "in charge" type of bird, and will stick together with others of their breed, and defend their group. An added bonus that we have discovered, is that they lay extremely well and their eggs are large and very near white. They do well in the winter, and don't mind confinement. As the roosters do have very large combs, they do need protection from frostbite.
